Business Support Kent 

Online business game enabling students and entrepreneurs to experience running a virtual business.

The Need:

Business Support Kent recognized that entrepreneurs and business students needed a practical and systematic understanding of all the considerations involved in setting up a business. The current range of support services assumed an existing level of knowledge and experience, when the reality was that the ‘business start-up’ usually had little of both.

The challenge was how to provide a ‘safe’ learning environment where entrepreneurs and students could experiment with business models and decision-making and experience the impact of their decisions on the business. 

The Solution:

Cyberkix designed and developed their first online business game where players set up a business and aimed to remain in business for 3 years. Some investment decisions were made at the start of the game with capital from the Bank and as the trading years progressed, opportunities and problems would present themselves in the form of scenario cards and decisions would need to be made or revised, penalties incurred and benefits gained depending on the player’s aptitude, understanding, strategy and foresight.

Players game data is continually stored as each option is selected and a comprehensive bespoke 'back office' was built enabling administrators to see a snapshot of any player's game results at any point and to run mini-reports in real-time online, and also to download the complete dataset at any time.
